That’s Sydney, the Bonnie to my Clyde, the vice president of The Savages, and sidekick. Before you ask, no, we’re not dating. Our friendship is quite platonic. Sydney is a badass. She used to be the head of everything in school – The Glee Club; that is until she got into a catfight with some hater named Watermelondrea.

—Trae Ventura, The Mafia

Sydney Prescott is a main character on The Savages. Sydney is the vice president of The Savages and formerly a close friend to Trae. As of Season 2, it is revealed that she was a former member of The Moneybags prior to sophomore year. However, she eventually quit when Felix Winchester became president of the clique; hence how The Savages was developed. As of now, she is a junior student at James A. Masters High School. She is the daughter to former pop singer Doreen Prescott and a playwright. During the events of Season 1, Sydney served as Trae's sidekick, and mostly the straightforward, intimidating and aggressive person necessary in The Savages.

She is portrayed by Dove Cameron and is based on TheFemaleBoss.

Biography[]

Sydney Prescott was born originally in Australia, making her the first foreign exchange members in the Savages. Born to a doctor and a retired pop musician, Sydney moved to the United States once her mother's musical success reached United States. Sydney was only seven years old once she moved to the United States, and she was also thirteen when she moved to Seattle, after living in Los Angeles for four years before her mother's retirement as a pop musician. When she was fifteen, she transferred to James A. Masters High School and Sydney, originally, joined The Moneybags based on her wealthy background. However, her time in the group was short-lived once Felix Winchester took control of the group and ostracized her. Therefore, Sydney began a civil friendship with Trae, and noticed unfair policies and control of the school environment. The duo created The Savages as a result, and are both president and vice president of the group.

Storyline[]

Sydney is introduced as the vice president of The Savages, and Trae's sidekick in the clique. As Trae narrates, Sydney was originally a member of the Glee Club before it disbanded, mainly due to her physical altercation with former student and rival, Watermelondrea Jones. Sydney poses as a very aggressive, rather stubborn member of the group, especially when Trae comes up with a plan to recruit more members to boost their status in the school. However, Sydney doesn't believe it s a great idea to change what they already have. When giving in, she isn't fond of neither of the new members: Gina, whom Sydney considers an "egghead", as well as Joe who isn't to be trusted.

She manages to help Gina with her attitude to make her be like a Savage, but she makes Gina her target when she convinces her that she and Alex are in a relationship. She succeeds in this lie which causes Gina to ignore Alex for most of her time as a member. (The Mafia)

Meanwhile, Sydney decides to recruit members of her own; during The Red Hot Cheer Peppers' practice, she witnesses a physical altercation between cheerleaders Lily and Sena. After Lily is revealed to have been kicked off of the cheerleading squad, Sydney becomes Lily's mentor after resonating with feeling like all that she accomplished in the school has been taken away. With this, she helps Lily get her personal revenge on the squad by sabotaging their cheerleading routines the day of a major football game. (The Devil's Protégé)

Despite an increase in The Savages's popularity, Sydney herself becomes fed up with Rose's new rule systems that are enforced and agrees to take action with The Savages in full force. However, her skepticism of Joe's behavior and antics start to come to light, when Joe bribes her with Nicki Minaj tickets in order to test Nate's attitude. When she seemingly accepts and considers giving Joe a chance, Nate confronts her and claims that she and Trae mistreat him in The Savages (thanks to Joe's manipulation), which forces Sydney to confront Joe and become aware of his influence on Nate. (The Boomerang Effect)

This, meanwhile, further increases Sydney's disinterest in the boys' misogyny at James A. Masters High School, especially when she is approached by Glenn Pierce, a member of The Sexxx Symbols, who flirts with her and she rejects. Despite her lukewarm relationship with Gina, yet her closeness with Lily, she joins forces with them to create a feminist organization to go against the misogyny, but it leads to detention from Rose, and in an interview, she takes a stand for feminism and considers it female empowerment. (The Feminist Manifesto)

In continuation of her skepticism of Joe, she slowly realizes a shift in Nate's attitude when she and The Savages take a road trip gone wrong to Portland, Oregon. She confronts Nate for constantly complaining and nagging, but this further encourages Nate to leave the group under Joe's influence. However, she realizes a difference in Nate's behavior when Joe isn't around him or the group. (The Wild Ride, The School for Scandal)

Meanwhile, Sydney's relationship with Nate becomes completely damaged when Nate finally quits and confronts her for neglecting him in The Savages. During the riot that Trae masterminds, she and Nate get into a physical altercation when Trae and Joe get into one. With this, she slowly develops a bond with Zachary after Trae is shot and in a coma. However, they both come to the conclusion that Trae is the mastermind behind the video scandal between Brian and Vik, and this infuriates Sydney. (The Psychological Warfare, The Beast Unleashed)

With her knowledge on Trae's involvement in the video scandal, a month after the events of the riot, Sydney tries to convince Zachary to reveal the truth to The Savages, believing that Trae could have put their reputations as a clique in jeopardy. However, when Zachary is adamant, Sydney becomes aggressive about it and is aware that he doesn't want to get involved with confronting Trae because of his romantic feelings for him.

Her short-term friendship with Zachary, meanwhile, becomes jeopardized when Sydney realizes that she's treating him the way she treated Nate before he quit. Once Sydney and Zachary receive more information in Brian's perspective of Trae's intentions, Sydney and Zachary tell The Savages about the situation, and Sydney calls an intervention to confront Trae the day he returns back from the hospital. She confronts him with evidence that she found from Trae's bedroom and took it to give proof.

The intervention goes awry, as she demands that Trae is kicked out of his own group. Instead, Trae decides to leave when Sydney claims that they are put in danger because of him for not telling the group about his deeds, thus losing trust. As a result, Trae's friendship with Sydney is ruined. Meanwhile, Sydney receives a scarlet letter, which reveals a dark secret from her past. She, prior to the series, was previously a member of The Moneybags and vied to be the leader of the clique.

However, once Felix became president after Andrew, Sydney became dissatisfied. It led to Sydney having sex with Andrew to become the leader of the clique, but instead, she got an abortion after being pregnant with presumably Andrew's child. Triggered by this secret, she immediately confronts Trae and assumes that he's doing it, but when she is proven wrong, she receives another letter that leads her to Felix's dead body. In a flashback, however, it shows that Sydney is a part of hiding his dead body, among other figures. (The Alibi, The Scarlet Letters)

These figures would eventually be revealed as Alex and Gina. When Sydney ends up finding his body, Felix is announced dead and Sydney finds herself receiving another scarlet letter threatening her. Realizing now that it wasn't Trae who wrote the letters, she tells Alex that she believes that he may have told someone to do it and she still doesn't trust him. She faces a lot of confrontation from the members of The Savages for her lingering resentment for Trae, especially when they attempt to bring him back into the clique.

Her resentment and anger goes even further when she shuns Zachary for dating Trae, and isolates herself from The Savages. During Christmas break, she denies an invite to go to the mall with Lily, Carl, Gina and Zachary to go to the party ran by The Moneybags to honor Felix. However, when she arrives, she gets intoxicated and is triggered by her former flame Andrew, and she brutally attacks him at the party. (The Conflict of Interest, The Roman Holiday)

Her anger becomes obvious and concerning for The Savages when they seem to break apart from her, but she decides to join JAM Student Council after Principal Gordon sets new policies and enforces metal detectors in the school when returning; she also admits to losing devotion to The Savages because of the events leading up to the riot. She meets Gabe, the council's president and befriends him. When Gabe tells her that she feels like she doesn't ha e When reunited with Trae, who apologizes to The Savages and returns to the clique respectively, the two reconcile.
